oh how I *heart* Alton Brown…

but really, who doesn’t? Is there anyone out there that doesn’t like him? Who doesn’t love Good Eats? I’m not even into food and I still love him. In fact, I was all pissed off at the Food Network when they started billing him with old “Flailing Man Hands Rachel Ray.” Wrong, wrong, that’s just so wrong. Former high school nerdlets don’t watch her. Ok, they might but for completely different reasons than they watch him. He’s cool. He tells us the reasons why our cookies are chewy vs. crispy and whatnot. His show has bits that look like our 6th grade science project.

And now, my friend, Alton has upped his cool factor by Feasting on Asphalt. What the hell is that you say? He’s taken a crew on the road by motorcycle to eat “road food.” Alton! Motorcycles! Road food! Aaahhh, road food. Did I say before that I’m not into food? That’s an understatement. I have the palate of a 10 year old. I love things like Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. And I love road food. But not fried brain sandwiches — because that’s just nasty.

it’s named “The Annoying Thing”…

and yet, strangely, The Annoying Thing didn’t annoy me at all. In fact, it cracked me up, right there in the middle of Target. Really, you have to listen to this to get the full effect.

And while I was doubled over in the aisle, snorting like a three year old (yes, in fact, just like my three year old), I decided it should be renamed “The Amazing Thing.” Amazing that someone ever thought seriously about producing these. Amazing that they did get produced and then picked up by said mass-merchandiser. And truly amazing that the damned thing wasn’t on clearance.
